As the old adage goes: decisions are made by those who show up.
Sadly though, many people in the UK are unaware that in order to show up to vote on the big day, you first must be entered into the electoral register.
National Voter Registration Day (5 February) has thus been created as a response to the lack of education and awareness around voter registration in the UK. Championed by organisations like Bite the Ballot, the day of action is used to celebrate the importance of registering to vote.
What’s special about this year’s National Voter Registration Day is that for the first time, people in Great Britain can register to vote in the General Election online through the Gov.uk site.
So, before the day is out – don’t forget to register to vote online!
